On Sunday the 1st. of December, Rotary International President Elect for 2014/2015 Gary Huang accompanied by his wife Korina and a member of the Board of Trustees Mr. Jackson Hsieh and his wife Juliet all from Taiwan and Dr. Peter Kron and his wife Magda from Salzburg Austria together with Israeli director of Rotary International Gidi Piper and his wife Chen and Director of the Institute PDG Avner Fuchs and his wife Adi and Rotary Israel Governor Shaul D’Angeli traveled to Safad to visit and plant trees in their names in Paul Harris Forest as it is usual with al VIP guests from Rotary International.
On their way back to Haifa the group passed by Nazareth to meet members of the Rotary Club and together have a festive lunch for the occasion of the visit of President Elect Gary and his entourage.
Before the meal Director Gidi Piper spoke about the President Elect and the members accompanying and few words about the very successful Rotary Institute that was held in Jerusalem. Director Gidi mentioned to the guests that the Rotary Club of Nazareth was the first club established in Israel after the clubs of Jerusalem, Haifa and Tel Aviv that were established during the British Mandate on Palestine.
Gidi then asked PDG Yusef srouji to tell the VIP visitors about how and when the Nazareth Club was chartered and mention about some important projects that had benefited the communities in Nazareth.
PDG Yusef Srouji related from his 60 years experience in the Rotary club of Nazareth since it was chartered in 1952 up till today. The NGOs, that the club had established, the Flower Shows of the 50s and 60s., the 4 Artificial Kidney Units supplied to the English Hospital in 1981 and most important of all the one million two hundred and fifty thousand dollars worth of equipment, supplies , machinery , computers and furniture donated during the last seven years through Matching Grants Agreements with the help of Rotary Clubs in Europe, the USA and Rotary Foundation to Educational, Medical, Humanitarian and Social institutions in Israel and Palestine,
After the meal President Albert Zaher gave to the President Elect and the other important visitors of Rotary International Souvenir Booklets about Nazareth with flags of the Rotary Club of the city.
