On the 23rd of February 1988, Conference on Arab Jewish understanding was held in Nazareth at the Grand New Hotel.
The Northern District Governor Amram Kala`ji, governor Kalman Mushin and several PDGs. and the Mayor of Nazareth Toufic Zayyad attended the meeting. The conference discussed ways to better the relations between Arabs and Jews and between the different religions in the country.
