On Friday the 2nd. of January 2015 hundreds of Rotarians flocked to the Cultulral Center in Kfar Saba for the Midyear Conference of Rotary Israel.
A group of Rotarians from Nazareth also travelled to Kfar Saba to attend that conference in which Israel Rotary Governor Mrs. Mali Levi gave her report about the first six months of her Rotary Year.
Gov. Mali at the end of her report announced that PDG Yusef Srouji has received the highest award a Rotarian could get for his continuous services and giving according to the Rotary Aims and Ideals, The”Service Above Self Award” of Rotary International.
Here Gov. Mali called upon the Nazareth Rotarians to approach the stage and come up to join her.
The Hall was almost full with more than 500 members and guests, Gov. Mali took the opportunity to declare her pride and happiness as PDG Yusef was the 9th Israeli Rotarian to get that high Award since the establishment of Rotary in the country since 1929.
Gov. Mali continued to say that PDG Yusef Srouji by receiving this Award had brought respect and pride to the Rotary movement in Israel, then she handed him the Award Certificate accompanied by a standing ovation from all present in the hall.
President Albert Zaher, also donated to Yusef a special framed certificate with nice words of praise and photos taken in Yusef’s Attic Office at home in Nazareth.
Yusef Srouji warmly and sincerely thanked Governor Mali for her nominating him to receive this high Award, then mentioned that his love to serve and to give started since his youth while still in Elementary and High school where the motto was “I Serve”, then the love to serve others was more than doubled when he joined the Rotary Club of Nazareth in 1953 and as Governor of Rotary Israel in the year 2000.
Here again Yusef repeated his thanks, appreciation, respect and pride for being a Rotarian in District 2490 Rotary Israel.
