On Tuesday the 2nd. Of July 2013, the rotary club of Nazareth celebrated the change of Presidents in Rotary, Inner wheel (Ladies of Rotary) and the Roteracts (Youth).
The event was under the auspices of Shaul, Dangel, Governor of Rotary Israel and his wife Mirav together with about 120 including members of Rotary, Innerwheel and Rotaract.
Among the guests there were some past members of Rotary that were invited by the incoming president especially for the occasion. Among those, one of the three living Charter Members, Past President 1961/62 Anis Srouji and Past President 1976/77 Suheil Geraisy and past member Elia Saba and many others from among the relatives and friends of the Directors in the three Rotary Institutions.
President George Jubran opened the last Rotary meeting of the year 2012/2013 by welcoming all the guests, and then started with the official items of Rotary Meeting starting with the International Toast which was given by PDG Yusef Srouji who proposed the toast for Lisbon Club in Portugal that hosted the International Rotary Convention for the year 2012/2013. Ladies Toast and the response were given by Past Assist. Gov. Suheil Saba and his wife Sylvia.
President George gave a detailed report on the activities of the club during last year which included several educational activities and mentioned about the donations of that year to several institutions in town.
At the end of his speech, he called on President of the inner wheel Miss. Naela Kteily who also mentioned in brief about the inner wheel activities after which she called on Mrs. Randa Nusair and gave her the pin of the Presidency for the year 2013/14
Then Edward Bishara, President of the Roteract was called together with Miss Dima Yunis to whom Edward gave the Pin of the Rotaract Presidency for the coming year 2013/14
President George called on Albert Zaher to come to the Head Table, who in turn called on his Secretary, Azmi Elias and his Treasurer, Bashir Nuseir. Albert called on Governor Shaul and PDG Yusef to come up and witness the exchange of the Rotary Pins between the Past and Present Directors of the Rotary Club of Nazareth.
By the end of the above procedures Albert Zaher rang the bell announcing the beginning of the new Rotary Year 2013/14. In his short speech Albert thanked George and his team for the good work done during last year and promised to continue in the footsteps of all his predecessors to keep up the spirit and activities of the club to the benefit of the town and the community.
Governor Shaul Dangeli gave a short talk in which he congratulated the new Directors of the Club wishing them good luck, after which PDG Yusef Srouji and his wife Souhaila distributed some Rotary articles they brought from the convention in Lisbon, among the past and present directors of Rotary, inner wheel and Roteract Clubs.
The last item on the program was a rich supper to all those present prepared by the St. Margaret Hostel while the two friends of the club, Elias Isbanioly and Elias Kassis played some light oriental music and some nice old Arabic songs that was enjoyed by all.
