On Friday the 20th.of December 2013 the Club of Haifa held its yearly conference on TOLERANCE in Peres Peace Institute in Yafo with the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Yafo. Members from all over the country attended the event.
Rotarian Haviva Rogers directed the conference, Hani El Far, chairman of the conference committee welcomed all the guests and members. He talked about the program of the event and the history of this tradition. Ido Shrir, Director of the Peres Peace Institute, Rosette Hinnawi President of the Rotary Club of Yafo, Moshe Gan Zvi, President of the Rotary Club of Haifa, Rotary Governor Shaul D’Angeli and the Mayor of Tel Aviv Ron Khuldai, all welcomed the guests and Rotarians to that special conference for the distribution of the TOLERANCE SHIELDS to deserving citizens and Rotarians.
From the general Israeli public Mr. Ami Ayalon, chairman of the Board of Directors of Haifa University- Dr. Farid Hamdan Director of Culture and Education in Yafo Area, Dr. Efrat Harlev Baroukh assistant director of the Shneider hospital for children, Sayyed Kashou’ journalist and writer from Jerusalem and Eyas shbitah director of Nave Shalom project received the Shields of Tolerance.
From Rotarians, Shields were given to the following Past Presidents: Dani Pessler from Haifa Club, Jeries Boulos from Nazareth Club, Yermi Lavi from Carmiel Club and Fouad Amer from Mghar Club.
At the end of the conference Mr. Ami Ayalon thanked Rotary on behalf of all the recipients of the Shields and in his short talk mentioned that the Arab minority in Israel should get their rights in all aspects
